Anyone who has watched Dragon Ball Z knows that a huge part of the show is the transformations. Once Goku became a Super Saiyan, it was like the opening of the floodgates for transformationsto appear in every handful of episodes. You could definitely argue that this actually devalued a lot of new forms, and that it became over the top eventually.
